So … this means every “Nam era vet who made a PTSD claim loses the RTKBA?
Lovely …

Now keep your eyes peeled for the regulations putting this law into effect. I don’t think you’re going to like them. And keep your eyes peeled for the improvements that I am sure are already being written to make it much more restrictive and much less correctable. That’s if they haven’t been written already and just awaiting introduction in a few months, say just after the elections when no seats are vulnerable.

It’s not a horrible law, and I doubt that straightarrow’s assumptions will play out. The antigunners have so many other, lower-hanging fruits, that trying to make this worse won’t be on their table soon.
I haven’t seen anything that’d convince me it’s worth our political capital, though.
No, Clinton already fucked him over in 1999. Now Nam era vet can challenge his lose of the RTKBA not only on whether the mental defective claim was wrong in the first place, but also for showing he’s no longer a mental defective. He has to prove a pair of negatives first, of course, to an administrative group set up by the very people who diagnosed him in the first place.
It’s the new Afganistan PTSD vet that’s going to be boned. Unless his records are reported to the FBI to a degree specified by the attorney general, his veteran’s affairs office loses cash. Now he can go about and say ‘he got better’ to the VA’s administration if he wants his RTKBA back.
Good luck convincing your VA office that you can be trusted with a gun when it’s their career on the line.

GATT, just pay attention. I know it’s a stretch, but try. This isn’t even a new tactic on the antigunners part. They have successfully employed it for nearly 50 years. And people just like you who find it uncomfortable to acknowledge said the same thing you just did. They didn’t think another step down that path would happen.
Tell me later.
