Bastard
Ya know, before these sorts of stories would make me shake my head in disgust. Now that I have kids, they make me physically ill for about 15 seconds.
Via R. Neal who says: It’s bastards like this who make it hard to keep opposing the death penatly (sic).

Just think of it as really, really late-term abortion.

Lies don’t raise my blood pressure.

Death penalty? For the first child, gouge out his eyes, slowly. For the second child, remove his procreative organs, slowly. For the third child, cut the tendons of his arms at the elbows and armpits carefully so as not to pirce any major blood vessels. For the fourth child, cut the hamstrings at the back of his knees. For all four children, leave him to flop around begging for death in some desolate place.

Have to agree with nk. The current death penalty would be too easy on this bastard. Something long, slow and very painful is in order.

From the article:
And this is Alabama, where he’s likely to face the needle. While I agree that a needle is far too good for him, at least he’ll pay for his crime.
I wonder, though, if Katie Couric will start up a defense fund for him like she did for Andrea Yates?

Unless this has some sort of a deterrent effect, it is a waste of time, and who exactly wants to carry it out? Hopefully nobody. Kill the bastard quickly and move on with life.

I personally think “the needle” is bullshit. We need to go back to the “short drop with a sudden stop”. ‘Sides it’s ecomonical, rope can be re-used.

I am not a fan of the death penalty. Like
mostall things done by the .gov, it’s too often done badly and quite probably to the wrong person. But there are those crimes so heinous, where the guilt of the accused is not in question, that make me believe we should put the perpetrator down like a rabid dog – swiftly, efficiently, and without a second thought.

I like NK’s suggestion. I came up with one of my own at the Dragonfly, but his would work as well, if not better. I also like the idea of recycling the rope. The needle is much too good for him.

The Smith drowning of her own children gave me this idea, and I think it would apply here. Put him in a large hamster ball. Then lower him into the water, bringing him up just before he dies. Do it again and again and again.
Until you don’t bring him up. Seems fitting.

I agree w/ Ben, torture won’t do much and it lowers us to his level. Hanging, done right, is as quick and efficient as injection (and no chance of disease from a bad needle stick.)
I guess I’ll take the heat, but I think we look at our capital punishment laws the wrong way. I believe in capital punishment for the insane. We can’t fix them, they are dangerous and we should protect our society from them. Warehousing them, knowing they are unfit/ unable to truly be released in society is torture. Only a sane person believes that 23hr lock down, never to be free is punishment for a crime. Should we keep and care for the caged rabid dog, always watching out in case he bites, or put him down to stop the caged torture, and protecting the rest of us?
Yes, it’s not a pleasant subject or idea, but what should we do for these dangerous, damaged members of our society?

My civilized side agrees with the quick painless, above the barbaric, punishment. My parental side wants to inflict as much pain and terror on those who harm children as I can.
If someone, just insists on a deterrent effect, broadcast it.

Televise the execution. Double-barreled 12 gauge to the base of the skull, on television, in a completely white room. Quick, painless, and gruesome as hell.
