Tannerite banned in 3, 2 . . .
It may have started as a goofy stunt, but tonight a 30 year old Red Wing area man is in hot water with authorities, after detonating a powerful bomb in back of his home yesterday afternoon. “When you can take a steel box, a dump truck box, turn it into scrap metal and send it 1/4 mile away… that’s a bomb,” reasoned Goodhue County Sheriff Dean Albers, whose detectives are investigating the case.
I doubt it’s illegal but it’s not smart.

I love shooting tannerite 🙂
This guy payed what, around a grand?, and spent probably 10 hours mixing the stuff, to shoot one target? Doesn’t seem like typical use of this product to me.
You can bet that stronger regulation of this stuff is coming soon.
What a shame.

I sold some of the stuff at a gun shot once. 10$ per single “charge” it is about 8 ounces of a white powder mixed with less that 1/4 ounce of gray accelerant. You can mix it to any size and it does go boom when hit by a high power rifle.
Since the detenator is the high powered rifle it is not classified as an explosive. It is usually billed as a reactive target.
Although I have seen video of about 10 pounds of the stuff in a van. Made it round.

What this guy did almost for certain can be used to convince a jury that he created a destructive device.
Buy your reactive targets now while you still can.

Did the shrapnel hurt anybody? If not then why are people getting their panties in a bunch?
