An anti-gunner becomes a pro-gunner:
To make a long story short, you were all right, and I’m sorry. This man with a gun saved me, and I just keep thinking if I had gotten my wish and guns were banned, there is no telling where I’d be, and what would’ve happened to my daughter. The only regret I have is not getting the man’s phone number who saved my life. I thanked him over and over again, and told him that he saved me, but he calmly said to me something I’d never forget. He said “That’s what people like me are here for Ms., and I’m happy to have been able to help.”

I read that elsewhere, and I’m not convinced about its authenticity. It reads with too much gun-nut jargon properly used. I’m withholding judgment until I see some evidence one way or the other.

Also, how old is that article? The thank-you note lists Angel as the Director of KeepAndBearArms. I thought he no longer held that position.

So a article that shows us gun owners for what we are, good honest citizens, is something you’re skeptical of? How skeptical are you of anything that makes us look bad? I’d guess not very.

I’m a bit skeptical too. I’d very much like for it to be true, but without any names, there’s no way to verify it, and it could just be a misguided gun-rights supporter trying to make up a sympathetic story.

We’re leery of anything that may not be the truth. Remember the shotgunning champ young girl that blew away a couple of robbers in her home up in Montana or wherever the article said a few months ago?
The Brady side lies to embellish itself. We’re above that, and we wish to stay above that. There are some things in the article that make me squint a little, so I want verification.

Yeh, as muchh as I support gun ownership, I have my doubts about the story.
Doesn’t make it less plausible or inspiring, but I don’t just believe anything I read on the internet.

I clicked on the name of the person who is the source of this story, got an email form and sent one that asked him if it is fiction. Why don’t you guys do the same ? If I get a reply, I will forward it to Uncle.

I can see this being true, the media goes out of their way to ignore these stories. Maybe its false, who knows, without more verification there is no way to know. I’m sure that many crimes are prevented every day by armed citizens that NEVER get brought to light.

Bear with me for just a moment, please.
I have run a charity self defense course for violent crime victims for the past 17 years. Occasionally I get some yahoo who falsely told the cops some story about how they got kicked around, and they seek me out because taking my course would help convince the judge that it really happened. I have become rather adept at seeing through this sort of thing.
Let me tell you guys, this letter is ringing every bell in the tower!
Don’t agree? Okay, try this. How come we don’t know how old her kids were?
She says that she dropped off two of her kids and had “my little one” with her when the crime occurred. Wouldn’t we know a bit more about how desperate she was to keep from going with the erstwhile kidnappers if we knew how old that was? Besides, how many of you parents out there would pass up a chance to say what age your kids are?
I tried to send an Email off to “Brian Clifford” in order to request more details, but his account doesn’t exist.
Someone said that this doesn’t pass the smell test. I say we bury it before I gag on the stench!

It’s too good to be true. That’s why it set off my bullshit detector in a big way. Rest stop in CT? On the way back from the Million Mom March? No police ever involved? I’m just not buying it.
