I spoke with Dombkowski last week and he said the state requires permits for handguns but not necessarily for other weapons, such as rifles. Because the federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004, if you can pass a background check, you can legally own such automatic guns.
The did not prohibit ownership of automatic guns or even semi-automatic guns.

I noticed that, too, and posted on it and even emailed the writer. I got a “I received and read your letter” response and nothing more.

he’s just polishing up his skills for a job in Journalism. Hell, you can’t actually do research, germinate rational thought, and question the established “guns are bad. mmkay?” media position. If he does that he’s got no chance at a job with the NYT, AJC or Wapo when he graduates.
