Yes, because the Founders felt that the right to serve in the state’s army was a right that needed to protected right after speech, press and religion.

I think it’s fair to say that perpetuation of a well-regulated militia is the purpose of the Second Amendment. It’s not a fair reading, however, to say that the RKBA has no constitutional protection in other contexts. Cf. commercial speech and the First Amendment.

The Amendment clearly states that guns are for family protection, hunting dangerous or delicious animals, and keeping the King of England out of your face!
