Registry
Mike emails this bit from the Commercial Appeal’s Wendi C. Thomas. It’s pretty ripe with your typical PSH but this stuck out:
For every 10 people in America, there are nine guns.
Well, one in ten people are slacking
Some of these guns are in the possession of police and the military, but the majority aren’t in the hands of registered gun owners.
There’s no such thing as a registered gun owner. To create such a registry would be illegal.

I was under the impression that those numbers did not include military arms. 270,000,000 firearms were estimated in civilian hands (this could include police I guess since they’re civilians too).

Without a registry how does anyone actually know?

“There’s no such thing as a registered gun owner.”
So, they’re telling the truth then. None of my 40 or so guns are registered. Well OK, there is that one DD that’s registered, so I take that back. I am a “registered gun owner”. Yes I am. So there is such a thing, but most guns are in fact not in the hands of registered gun owners. Registered gun owners being, I suppose, all NFA weapon owners and all CCW permitees, though the latter is not a guarantee of ownership.
But your point is valid all the same. Most knives aren’t in the hands of registered knife owners either. Those bastards.

Wendy Thomas???
Isn’t she Dave Thomas’ daughter? The redhead from Wendy’s?
No wonder her writing is half baked!
