Today’s Idiot
There is one thing gun lovers won’t understand. It is very simple. The word that sums it up is: Technology.
Really? Have you seen some of the gun stuff today? Like red dot sights, guns that shoot around corners, etc. Seems we understand it fine.
And:
You can go on and on ad nauseam about mental health, drugs, depression, revenge, etc. But when push comes to shove, if there were no guns on this planet (and I mean all guns ) military, civilian — all) how would they respond to their dilemma?
Like they did before guns brought us civilization: pure brute force.

He wants to rid the planet of all guns? Good luck with that.
There’s one thing gun banners won’t understand. It is very simple. The word that sums it up is: Technology.
You see, gunpowder and firearms are Medieval technology. And really, as long as the recipe for powder is remembered, the big requirement is a level of metallurgy sufficient for casting the bores.
Are we going to wind the clock back to the stone age, sir, or just to the bronze?

As Thibodeaux said, by (re)inventing them.

And if we got rid of all the illegal drugs, there would be no drug abuse.

Bows and arrow worked quite well for a long period of time, from ancient Egypt to Late-Medieval Japan – and as for drugs, don’t go lickin’ that jungle-frog’s ass, or play with the magic mushrooms! Jeeze – does he think we INVENTED everything? Mostly we just refined things found in nature.

“if there were no guns on this planet…”
If – the biggest word in the dictionary. As my Dad always used to say, “If Aunt Mary had balls she’d be Uncle Fred.”

You could say the same thing about any trades profesonals. We have compressed air nail guns, and electric table saws, but sometimes just a regular 20 oz Claw Hammer and a hand saw are the best tool.
Speaking of tools….this guy is one!

I’m very pleased to see that the Herald’s commenters instantly and consistently called Dick out for the ignorant fool he is.
I wonder when he and his editors will start to get a clue?

That was the money quote right there. The rest was standard blather; this is the statement that proves this guy is a brain dead idiot.

In political science, we often trade place for time. In other words, since we cannot go back in time, is there another place where we can witness such an event happening? What would happen if there were no guns?
African nation, starts with R, ends with Wanda, machetes… nope, drawing a blank here, folks!

A place without guns?
I need not imagine:

I’m pretty sure the Romans and the Carthaginians did not have guns at Cannae.
They still managed to kill in excess of 50,000 people in one day. Wouldn’t take a
lot ofany effort to find more recent examples. See workinwifdakids’ comment above for one.March 28th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Genghis Kahn didn’t need an AK either…but he would have liked one, the ONLY one.
