Quote of the day
Gun control is the only kind of policy that we have where the proponents of it will point to its utter failure as evidence that we need even more of it.

Unfortunately, that is not true. Practically every complete governmental program failure has the nanny staters clamoring for more of the same.
In there minds, we’re just not trying hard enough.

I was going to say, every social welfare program has been defended that way. Every pork project. Like Robb said, every government program.

Heh yeah…a close second. Well proponents of the WOD tend to say things a little more like “yeah but those drugs are sooooooooooooooo bad so we need to make them illegal”. It’s more ignoring the abject failure of the policy to do anything positive than it is using said failure to argue for more of it…but the war on SOME drugs came to mind for me too.

All socialist ideas– some people are suffering, therefore we all have too much freedom. That is the founding principle of all socialist/Marxist/Fascist proposals.
No matter how many times I cut this board, it’s still too short. We will finally be safe once we are stripped of all the best means of defending ourselves, we will get rich as soon as all incentives for creativity, productivity, and voluntary exchange are removed, etc., etc., ad infinitum.

LoL – basically the areas where there isn’t government work the best. Just look how well real wages have done since we completely went off the gold standard in the 1970’s.
