Lautenberg wants to increase the length of time that the feds keep gun records from 24 hours to six months. Ten years, if you’re on the terror watch list (which is the same list that Ted Kennedy was on). Says armed and safe:
The name of this charming bit of tyranny? Preserving Records of Terrorist and Criminal Transactions (PROTeCT) Act of 2008. So . . . we’re keeping records of all gun sales through licensed dealers, and calling all such sales “Terrorist and Criminal Transactions,” eh? Does anyone have any doubts about what the senator thinks of gun owners?

And what are the odds that in a few months, someone will want to amend it to keep the records of everyone for ten years, or permanently? Slippery slope…

They already do that: it’s called the list of elected officials; I’m sure that the list includes a few people who don’t meet your criteria but the number is so small as to be not worth being worried about it.

Lautenberg will do anything to stop legal gun ownership. This is the guy that wanted to “suspend” gun sales until the terror threat level was green (or whatever the lowest one is). Since it was released, it has never been below elevated meaning if Lautenberg had his way, no guns would have been sold in the U.S. at all.
