Unpossible
I’m actually speechless. This google street view in Chicago shows a guy pointing a gun at a child.
Update: Word is you should make screen captures of it.
Oh and it was via reader JKB.
Update 2: In comments, some speculation it is a toy gun. I can’t tell since it’s missing the bright orange tip required by law.

Hey, that is in Cook county…handguns are BANNED! Why isn’t he following the law?! Where is Mayor Daley who should be able to explain why his citizens aren’t following the law?
F@#$ you Chicago and all your pussified citizens (Pro gunners excluded)!

I took a screen shot of that. I have a feeling that goes down the memory hole soon.

Tough to tell, but it could be a squirt gun. Or a 9 painted to look like a squirt gun.
Better ban DuraCoat so we can tell if guns on Street View are real or not.

And it’s gone.
I took a screen cap as well.

I can still see it. Looks like one of those clear plastic airsoft berettas

If you go to the street view, you can move up and down the street, rotating the view, and get a sense of what’s happening. If you push the view down, you can even see the car that the camera pod is mounted on. You’d have to be big idiot to point a real gun at somebody with that driving by.

Done.
I’ve zoomed in as much as possible and I can’t tell if he’s violating rule #3 or not. So this is nowhere near what’s needed for court evidence.

What the heck, I fooled with teh gimp one more time. This is the best zoom I was able to get. (123k)
I’m getting quite a few hits on the other two. The referrers tell me that they are getting emailed around quite a bit too.

I’m not sure about whether the gun was real or not, but the whole event is pretty strange. If you zoom all the way out, you can move up and down the street in small increments. Since each “stop” was taken a bit after the other as the camera vehicle moves, it produces a sort of time lapse photography. Thanks to the 360 view and zoom, you can watch the guy walk down the street a bit, then stop (facing the kid), then what is probably him talking to or yelling at the kid, walk over to the curb (I can’t quite tell, but it doesn’t seem like he has the gun in his hand, and the kid is still just standing there), then the infamous image of him with the gun pointed at the kid (who seems to be turning to run), then the gun is down and the kid is turning back to the guy after moving off a couple yards, then (inexplicably) the kid seems to take a couple steps back towards the guy, who moves a bit off the curb. Through the whole thing, people are standing to either side, seemingly unconcerned. Just plain weird…
