Any takers
Another police officer with an illegal weapon in Illinois. If history is any indication, he will walk. Well, at least on the gun charge.

Not in this case. This is Drew Peterson. The guy who is a suspect in his wife’s disappearance.
They’re ‘gunning’ for him.

He was a “white shirt”. He could issue his own law-enforcement exception letters.

It looks like they removed the flash hider and called the barrel too short. I wonder if it was blind pinned or silver soldered on.

Paul over at Crimes, Guns, and Videotape has made a good point that indicates you may have snarked a bit in haste, and sound reflexively anti-cop. I think Paul has some outlandish comments of his own, but he does raise an interesting question here.
The link is below, you can go read for yourself (and he has links to the arrest warrant. The short course is this: This was Peterson’s SWAT weapon, and was seized while he was still a police officer and on the SWAT team. Why weren’t the other officers, who have identical weapons, arrested as well? Good question, I think.
I don’t know if Peterson murdered somebody or not, but the DA does seem short on evidence so far. If he trumped up an issue over Peterson’s rifle so that “This arrest was made for the sole purpose of making Peterson a person prohibited from owning firearms so they don’t have to return his seized weapons. They will succeed at least until he is cleared of the charge” then your snark should be about knucklehead laws gun laws, not cops who get caught in them.
Especially if Nate is correct in his speculation about the flashhider being forcibly removed.

I read somewhere that Peterson’s swat issued weapon was an MP5 and the AR was his own personal rifle. If so, he is in a world of hurt…wait a sec.. he’s an “Only One”. No bet here.
