PR,
I’m thinking it’s an intonation thing. Set up a guitar for a standard tuning in A-440 & it’s going to be a little out in any open tuning you put it in. Hell, even a perfectly intoned guitar is going to be off in spots in the tuning it was intonated for (necks aren’t perfect). So you either set up a guitar for a particular tuning (which works if you have a guitar for each tuning you like to mess with) or you live with compromises. The Reed stuff that she’s doing uses some rather unusual tunings (like B-A-D-G-A_D) so I’m giving her a pass on the intonation not being all it could be, as well as a flub or two, considering the complexity of what she’s doing. From what I read she’s been playing about 5 years. Hell I’d have trouble with those pieces & I’ve been playing for nigh on 3 decades.
Ben,
Thankee. I wasn’t hip to Mckee before, but I is now. 🙂

Reminds me of Andy Mckee. Oddly enough, I have a cousin named Andy Mckee.

Yep, she has talent. But she needs to get someone to tune her guitar…evidently she doesn’t know it needs it.

The gain is turned way up to make that work. Sounds a bit harsh there, but could be made to sound great in a studio environment. She’s got potential.

This video is a better example of McKee’s style.
