Speaking of guns in the press
Practical Shooting in the Pittsburgh Tribune:
Practical shooting traces its roots to combat pistol shooting, though it can involve rifles and shotguns, too. And it still draws military marksmen and law enforcement types, said Alan Meek of Virginia, an area 8 director.
But it’s evolved to become a sport enjoyed by all types of people, he said.
When I was at the NRA Convention, I mentioned to Joe I’d like to try practical shooting. He explained a bit about it. And I grabbed some literature there. Also, one of the guys I met named Paul is going to introduce me to some locals. Looks fun.

Unc – I’m surprised you haven’t tried IPSC or IDPA.

Dude IDPA is the only way to go. You don’t want to be a lame gamer spending thousands of dollars on a gun you can’t carry, and is always breaking.

Hmm .. Both IDPA and USPSA are games, both are fun but for different personally types, some like both. Both can be shot with a off the shelf Glock or M&P or whatever, at least one of the top shooters in USPSA and IDPA (Dave Sevigny) shoots a stock Glock without as much as a trigger job.
Try both games and see which one like best. Personally I’ve been shooting USPSA for 6 years and I prefer it to IDPA. I use a pretty plain plastic gun that doesn’t cost me thousands and doesn’t break.

Oh and I was at the match the article speaks about. It was an awesome match and I had a blast.
