Well, at least he left out Paul Helmke’s appealing to the shooter’s reason and empathy.
But is must be accepted that a gun doesn’t make you a hero. A gun gives you capability in a fight. It expands your avenues of engagement, i.e. you don’t have to sneak up behind them, ability to manage escalation,i.e., you can confront without immediately employing deadly force, and ability to interfere with the opponents continued murders, i.e., you can drive them to cover until help arrives if they can’t be stopped completely. A gun doesn’t make a hero but it can make you live hero instead of being heroically gunned down running toward the shooter
It’s the chickenhawk meme all backwards. Liberals simply don’t get it.
Apart from Liberal fantasies, day-dreams, and projections of “Heroism” in which they see themselves uplifted, nobody really wants to be a hero – it just happens sometimes and then you have to deal with it, and sometimes it hurts.
It’s really not what they think it is at all.
Stupidity is incurable.Having been raised in a hotbed of “liberalism” and having taken the time to gently (when dealing with irrational people a gentle voice can be helpful) talk to them about their magical thinking when it comes to guns,I have found most “anti-gunners” to be terrified of the “other” as the textbooks put it.Poor people,Minorities,BAPTISTS!.and you know, rednecks.SCARY PEOPLE.And of course he fascist pig police will show up instantly to protect them when called. That is the thinking.Oh and a lot of them really believe that they can reason with someone who is terrified, nuts and armed, because, you know, people shouldn’t hurt people.and bad things don’t happen to good people, cause Karma is like a law,you know.My falks were old style Dems and Union people,so I was spared that horseshit, thankfully.

…then there are those of us who, while ambulatory, are recovering from a stroke and can’t even run yet, much less bust a move.
I prefer rule .357.
