Hunters v. Shooters

Michael Bane, in a must read, notes shooters have caught up with hunters.

  1. Vote For David Says:

Is it too late to change the name of those who convert money to noise for fun from shooter to shootist?

Shooter has all sorts of icky connotations. Shootist sounds almost respectable.

I’m a shooter instead of a hunter only because land is pushing 2 years’ wages per acre where I live, and a lease for a single deer season is more than I paid for all my rifles.

  2. Weisenheimer Brainstorm Says:

As a new shooter, one month, I can not pretend to understand the hunter vs. shooter arguments or to even know that such divisions even existed prior to reading the Bane post. I can say that what motivated me to become a gun owner was the Heller case and the rise of Obama (as mentioned by Bane). I have no interest in hunting. There were several occasions when I was kid in Fort Wayne, Indiana that I went hunting but I never enjoyed it. Since the purchase of my CZ 75 P-01 I’ve been to the shooting range twice and have really enjoyed it. Already I am thinking about buying a Sig Mosquito so I can afford to make weekly range visits and get in a lot more practice.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
