Concealed Carry in Alabama
Apparently, because it’s still a county-by-county thing, getting a handgun carry permit when you move is a pain. Technically, Alabama is still ‘may-issue’ but in practice it is ‘shall-issue’, generally.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

Damn, I remember when Alabama was like Vermont. You could walk into a hardware store, buy a pistol, put it into your pocket and then walk out. And then they passed the holster law. And now this.

One thing I can say about Pennsylvania is that it took me 15 minutes from the time I walked into the Sheriff’s office to walk out with my permit. Course, this is my Sheriff (note the first sidebar link). You gotta love the hat in Pennsylvania — and he’s a Democrat.

its the same in NC… the sheriff gets to decide the rules for the CCH, now thankfully, if you move to another county, renewal is handled by the state…
but in some counties, you can walk in and get one in 10 mins, in others it takes 90 days… the county that Wimlington sits in has a requirement that you show up to the sheriffs office with the unrelated people to swear affidavits as to your character…
believe me, we understand the frustration

My first permit had all the above requirments listed, make, s.n. et al but subsequent ones have all been unlimited. HERE IN JEFFERSON COUNTY IT’S STILL $7.00 + $3.00 to laminate, which comes in handy. You walk into the jail put down your old license and in about 3 minutes you walk out with your new one.
