Thanks
Kynn has apologized. It’s a start.
Kynn asks: Why do you carry a gun to church?
Same reason I carry one anywhere. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Good reason.

A very loooooong and narrow apology….but hey at least there is an “I’m sorry” in there.
But you still get neener neener neener points because you apologized first.

that’s so close to being a non-apology you couldn’t squeeze a razor blade between the two.
but never mind that. look at the very last bit of it, where it’s just taken for granted that a blog host must just naturally agree with any comments they allow on their posts, at very least unless otherwise explicitly stated. that alone tells me this person’s head is miles up her rectum and still receding fast.

Pilot have a saying, “There is nothing more useless than fuel left at the airport or altitude above your head.” I feel the same way about my firearm. Nothing more useless than bullets not in a magazine or a gun left at home.

I think part of the problem is that many people who don’t carry a firearm assume it is a great burden. It is not. Carrying a cell phone is more of a burden than carrying a pistol, because the pistol doesn’t make shrieking noises at inopportune moments in a desperate ploy for attention.
I carry a fire extinguisher in my car, and have several in my home. If they had a fire extinguisher that I could carry easily in my tote, and would put out even a roaring fire, I would carry that almost everywhere too, even though I don’t expect to run into fires.

Honestly, I’ve had to use fire extinguishers many times in my life. I’ve never had to use my gun. The closest I’ve ever come is threating to blow someone’s head off if he suceeded at forcing my front door open at 2am…….despite not actually owning a gun yet. (I’ll note that it wasn’t long after that I finally bought my first).
I was especially happy to have an extinguisher in my car one night when a couple of girls in a car next to me on the interstate suddenly had a fireball come out from under their hood while driving.
Related to that, if you carry an extinguisher in your car, you should probably also have the following:
1. a pair of thick leather work gloves to use with them, so you can get the hood up to use the extinguisher. In four years of firefighting, most fires I saw were from under the hood.
2. Have tools to disconnect the battery terminals (most likely source of a reflash).
Also, always remember to get the keys out of the ignition before you try to fight the fire. If the fire is bad enough that you can’t get them out, it’s bad enough that you need to get the hell away from the car.

Seems a rather silly question (to me) in light of the church shootings recently. Remember Jeanne Assam, the woman who stopped the church shooting in December last year?
As long as there are differences in opinion (such as whether God exists), there will be people who hate other people for what they think/believe. As long as people hate other people, there will be violence.

dave says: As long as people hate other people, there will be violence.
That is not an imperative. There are very few people I actually hate, but there are some. I still recognize that absent any immediate threat from them, I have no right to engage in violence against them. I do not believe I am unique or morally superior to the average run of men. I just don’t see your proposition as necessarily inevitable.

I don’t think you’re reading carefully.
I never said that Mr. Uncle believes the same thing as his commenters.
I am taking him to task for his claim that neither he nor his commenters had ever proposed the “ridiculous argument”. If he wants to say “those people said it, and I don’t agree,” that’s fine. But saying that he’s never read it before, when it’s stated on his own blog?
But you still get neener neener neener points because you apologized first.
He “apologized first” because I don’t have net access at work — but I had no idea it was a race.

I wasn’t stating that everyone who hates someone will be violent, but violent people are likely to act on their hate.
