Veepstakes
So, John McCain and Barack Bikini Inspector Obama are set to name their VP picks. Soon. Maybe today. Or in a month. All eyes are on the race. Actually, not really. No one but pundits seem to care. For Obama, there is good news: it won’t be Biden. Which is good and may mark the third time I’ve agreed with metulj.
I’ve said before I’ll probably vote for McCain’s veep pick but he’ll probably screw that up too.
Who do you think they’ll choose?
Update: See what I mean?

If McCain picks Giuliani, Romney, or Leiberman, I’m going to the range on election day. If McCain wants this swing state, he’ll have to win it without my help, unless he smartens up and picks a fiscal conservative who understands what the 2nd Amendment is all about.

In a perfect world where Bill Clinton had just decided to be a country lawyer in Arkansas instead of an corporate whore asshole in Washington, I would want Bill Richardson. He’s off the table because of his ring kissing HRC. I could be wrong. Supposedly, Obama is going with a male Veep, because someone slipped off message and didn’t go gender neutral in a response. That kind of shitty journalism reeks of Sovietology. The only thing that’s got me voting for Obama right now is that we moved to VA* and it would be two votes to make obvious the reality that the Old Dominion isn’t a red state given anymore. Otherwise, he’s vaporware. My third party choices on the VA ballot are the usual assortment of nuts and irrelevancies.
On McCain’s side, it would be refreshing if he came out with someone like Chuck Hagel (I know it’s impossible), but it will most likely be some authoritarian and/or JesusWarrior prick to please the authoritarian and/or JesusWarrior crowd. It could be Eric Cantor. He’s a little Rudy Giuliani clone if there ever was one and he’s got the Israel thing going to. And he’s a prick. Check. Check. Check.
*I am so looking forward to sending that drooling idiot Virgil Goode home to Rocky Mount from Washington. One of my favorite scenes from 04 was that bastard calling John Kerry a flip-flopper. Cripes.
Anyhow, thanks for the link.

I don’t really care at this point. Short of McCain picking Satan, I am going to vote for him. What choice do I have?

Sarah Palin and he gets my vote.

Lieberman is a mind-boggling choice even for the short list. He’s another really, really old dude and a Senator with no executive experience. And let’s face it – if he crosses party lines he’ll be seen as a traitor and no one wants a traitor on their side, even if he crossed party lines for idealistic reasons.
Thankfully Huckabee doesn’t even seem to have made the short list.
Palin would be a heckuva pick.

Hubby thinks McCain will pick the worst possible candidate. Every time I tell him that Newt Gingrich(sp?) is the worst possible candidate, hubby shudders.
Sarah Palin would be a good choice, and therefore is probably not on McCain’s list (sigh).

I don’t think that Rodham will pick Obama for her VP.

Hmmmm.
1. Biden didn’t really remove himself from the running. He added a correction, which doesn’t make any sense at all, but in essence Biden is still in.
2. I’m not voting for either McCain or Obama. I’m a conservative and frankly I can’t hold my nose tight enough to vote for McCain.
If the GOP wants my vote, and my money, they’ll promote conservative Republicans. Otherwise to hell with them.

Is it still forbidden to use the H word?

Kay Baily Hutchison for McCain’s VP. Just on the off chance that she is picked you all will say “oh, that JR sure did pick it”
Obama’s VP? who cares?

The only Barack *redacted* Obama veep pick I’ve heard that really spooked me so far was Max Cleland.
He’s really unlikely, but he’d kick McCain’s war hero cred right out from under him.

Right.
Because fumbling a grenade and blowing oneself up is so much more heroic than surviving torture in a prison camp.

Yeah, Tam, you know better than that.
Oh, and Palin, aside from being MILFtastic, is actually pretty cool politically. If she and McCain get elected, I can envision myself sending packages of unfiltered Camels and bacon and butter to the President every week. No, wait, that’s just wrong.
Might be good for the country, though.
