We’re winning
From Joe’s quote of the day comes Dennis Hennigan:
The lines are being more clearly drawn on the gun issue. One day after Senator Obama made it clear that he thinks assault weapons should be banned in a remarkable portion of his speech, here Senator McCain selects someone who is not only proud to be endorsed by [the NRA], an opponent of that ban, but apparently is pretty enthusiastic about the guns themselves.
McCain is not a fan of the ban on weapons that look like assault weapons either.

Obama once taught Constitutional law. So in wanting to ban weapons that look like “assault weapons” (which includes many semi-auto pistols and even hi-cap pump shotguns) is he gonna abide by “the equal protection of the laws” (14th Amendment) and disarm his SS of their real assault weapons and have them abide by the gun control laws he would impose on his citizen EMPLOYERS??!! Or is he the same old arrogant elitist? ….which is NO CHANGE.

He’s the same old arrogant elitest. That will never change.

Ah, yes. Dennis “I forgot about the people” Hennigan.

Hennigan’s right, but he doesn’t seem to understand that this is a bad thing for his side. Keeping gun owners apathetic about McCain was in their best interest. “Clearly drawing the lines” is a bad idea when you represent a broke, virtually powerless minority.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Palin is the first bona fide gun nut we’ve had on a ticket since Teddy Roosevelt.

I’d like to add that I think this is awesome. There is a lot more enthusiasm around my corner of the world for McCain now that he has made such a redeeming pick.
A lot of conservatives have been sitting on the sidelines proclaiming, at best, that they would vote against Obama. Now they are enthusiastically looking for ways to help elect McCain/Palin.
Well played republicans, well played.

Hopefully that’s true, rightwingprof. I want to hear Palin’s precise views on the 2nd Amendment…namely that is not about hunting but about “the SECURITY of a free State” and the RIGHT of the people to keep and bear (yes, CARRY) arms”….for self-defense.
The only groups who benefit from gun control and the infringement of the right of people to keep and bear arms are criminals and tyrants!
If that’s what Palin thinks, then that will be—-CHANGE!

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Palin is the first bona fide gun nut we’ve had on a ticket since Teddy Roosevelt.”
Maybe, but I’m reminded that Elvis Presley gave Nixon a revolver. Brought it to the White House IIRC. ‘Course that was before we as a culture decided to go insane at the sight of a gun. Today I suppose he’d be jumped, beaten, and then jailed. Back then it was, “Oh, thank you. How nice.”
