More Palin on Guns
she faces questions over the firing of a longtime local police chief. After taking over as Mayor of the small town of Wasilla, Palin fired the longtime local police chief. The former police chief, Irl Stambaugh says he was fired because he stepped on the toes of Palin’s campaign contributors, including bar owners and the National Rifle Association … In his 1997 lawsuit, Stambaugh also alleged that his stand on restricting concealed weapons upset the NRA. “Mayor Palin has stated on several occasions that the National Rifle Association encouraged her to fire Chief Stambaugh because of his stance against the concealed weapons legislation,” the lawsuit claimed …”
And the press coverage seems sensationalist. I consider this to be a feature, not a bug. IIRC, Alaska (which now requires no permit to carry) issues permits for reciprocity with other states. Seems like the guy may have been disregarding the law. Anyone familiar with Alaska’s 1997 laws?

They are saying this because they think that it is some kind of bad thing?
What gives?
This kind of publicity is only going to garner more votes for McCain-Palin.

I would have fired him also if he was against concealed carry.

This is a bad thing? To fire a police chief who disobeys the law and refuses to mend his ways. I don’t think that pig will fly.
