Quote of the day
James Valley, mayor of Helena:
“I’ve offered to give the ACLU lady a house on Second Street,” he says. “That way, she can see if the Constitution will protect her there.”
Responds Sklar: “The arrogance of small-town tyrants never ceases to amaze me.”
From an article noting a town south of Memphis has a police enforced curfew.
I think I’d choose the constitution and a rifle over 30 policemen in ninja outfits clearing the streets.

Yeah, but the ACLU doesn’t want any of the above.
FYI, we’ve been hearing things from that place for a couple years now. I don’t know any specifics, but it smacks of Buford Pusser – like stuff down there.
I’d avoid it at all costs.

“Small Arkansas town divided over whether safety trumps Constitution”
This is a no-brainer, NOTHING over-rides the COTUS! Terms like “public safety” “national security”, and “the public good” have been used as reasons to strip away rights by tyrants since the dawn of mankind.

Interesting Mayor. I must admit I like his quote about the ACLU, but the ACLU is right and this town will lose money on these blatant violations of civil rights.
