That’s one poll…a bunch of others have Obama in the lead and few show it too close to call. I’d say it’s probably a dead heat right now…but we have nother 50 or so days of gotcha politics, lipstick bullshit, and nonsense to go. Anybody’s race still.
Thought I’d seen a couple others but yeah its safe to say it’s tightening up. My gut is that it’s a race between how much flak Palin takes vs. how many people have no problem telling a pollster they’ll vote for Obama but just aren’t willing to actually pull a lever for a black guy when push comes to shove.
Funny how everyone assumes that the so-called “Wilder effect” means that all poll respondents honestly believed what they told the pollster, then privately “lied” to their secret ballots. The more intuitive explanation is the opposite: concerns about political correctness make some people reluctant to admit out loud that they do not consider the black candidate to be the better qualified one in the race, for fear of being thought racist/insensitive/whatever, so they tell the human pollster what they think the pollster wants to hear, but vote their conscience in the booth when no one is watching them.
Honestly, one of the biggest indicators for me on which side more deserves my support is the one that doesn’t have to resort to lies and slander; it’s like that for the gun issue, and it’s like it for this campaign.
Seriously, the McCain campaign’s tactics are fucking shameful, no matter what your political views are.
The DSM Register had a poll showing Obama taking the state among likely voters, but if you read the questions the only ones obama won where whether he would improve the economy, improve world standing, or be better looking.
OK, I made that last one up. McCain won on securtity and ability to lead by really big margins.
Now correct me if I am wrong, but I thought security and leadership where what we wanted in the top dog of the most powerful nation on earth.
Personally I want any one who was cool enough to survive 5 plane crashes, in one he was shot down on deck by an accidental discharge of a missle, in charge. I’d rather have a guy who can do the right thing (survive) when every thing is in the shitter that some bozo who doesn’t even know where the shitter is. Show me any life or death descision OBama has to his credit and I might rethink this position, but I really doubt it.

This is the poll that counts.
Several local lib blogs are literally crying that the election is lost for Obama. Now the battle cry is, “We’ll show them in 2012”.
Not if they keep putting up Marxists.
