By 2006 the School had gotten 4.4 mil and wanted another 5 mil.
A 2005 study by a committee of the National Academy of Engineering was less optimistic, predicting that any of the various smart guns would need five to 10 years and $30 million.
Ahhh, but you don’t see the endgame. You see, if they get even one partially functional prototype, all the law abiding gunowners in NJ are registered with name, address, type and number of guns owned and are all are now illegal and subject to confiscation or voluntary surrender or excuse for police generated murders for the recalcitrant. See? They won’t be required to have smart guns. Wonder why.
Whole collections can be gone overnight and even if sold legally which is impossible in NJ, would not bring in enough revenue to buy one of the very short supply partially functional smart guns.

They’ve gotten millions already, and ruined at least one partner (metalstorm).
It has devolved into a money trap.

They (NJ) could only ban the other ones if the “Smart Gun” became the default and readily available weapon for military and civilian use.
Re-read the Heller decision.

I’ve got an excellent child-proof technology: parental responsibility.
