Piston system
Adams Arms makes a Retrofit Piston Driven System for the AR-15.
At $500 though, I could just build another AR to carry around in case the first one jammed up.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

a second AR15 won’t help if you’re shooting it suppressed. People with suppressors are the primary market for these things.

Only reason I could see to do one of these would be if I was building it as a 5.45X39(corrosive ammo only). The piston operation would seem to maybe be easier to clean as opposed to a gas operation.

And for that 500 bucks you could buy an AK, several magazines and a small supply of ammo.
Yeah, they’re targeting a very limited market, but it’s a cool idea anyway, and if you’re building an AR from components, the price difference is less than the 500 you pay for the piston kit.
