The bore was apparently jugged back near the chamber throat as well.
Guns sometimes blow up. Even ones made in the thousands. If you want a hobby that doesn’t involve the occasional explosion, I hear knitting is fairly safe.
Didn’t Sako have a series of similar problems a couple of years ago? If I remember correctly, their problem was caused by some poorly formulated stainless steel barrels.

Yup. There was a big recall from Sako back a few years ago due to barrels being made from a bad batch of steel…
