Eating our own
Over at The Gun Shots, Derek A. Reeves asks Are Gun Owners the Second Amendment’s Worst Enemy? To wit
Working within the gun industry I am dismayed by the divisional attitudes among people who own firearms for whatever purpose that suits them. I have repeatedly heard gun owners disparage other aspects of gun possession. Some hunters feel that people should not own military style weapons, some target shooters feel that civilians should not have .50 BMG rifles, some who own guns for self defense feel that people should not hunt. So when one element comes under fire the solidarity needed to defeat it is not there. Whether you agree or disagree with my observation we, as gun owners, need to start realizing the stark, naked truth. We are all in the same boat and that boat is taking on water.
One issue I have is that some folks who engage in this division are given prominent columns in sporting magazines.

It’s always been this way. Our rights have been preserved by a very, very small, activist segment of the total gun owning population.

What the man just described in detail is nothing less than Mark One Mod Zero Freedom of Expression.
That is all.

Yeah, just like it is the literate who are the worst enemies of the free press.

Divide-and-conquer worked well in the run-up to Prohibition too. The beer and wine makers were willing to let the liquor distillers take the heat, thinking they’d be left alone. It made no sense then and it makes no sense now.
And do we have to keep repeating it?; The 2A is not about hunting.
If you’ve been paying attention to trends in the gun industry and in the magazines, you find that EBRs (Evil Black Rifles for those of you who were born in a barn) are more popular and more acceptable now, by far, than they were only 10 years ago. I therefore do hereby declare that gun owners and gun organizations are “Progressive”. The Left can’t have that word (their minds are 100 years in the past). I claim it for our side.

The wide divide of CCW and OC is also a major tick.
