Gun sales, carry permits up
Gun stores are doing big business these days despite the sluggish economy.
Sales may be slow for some retailers but there are two reasons why the registers have been ringing at gun stores.
“I have personally never seen it like it has been this year,” said Larry Baity at Gun City USA in Nashville.
He has sold a record number of guns recently… and he knows why.
When the economy goes south, it kind of goes hand in glove, crime increases.
I was talking to a local gun dealer a bit back. He said sales were through the roof.

I’m making my FFL friends very happy, while my banker gets more and more concerned.
Christmas better be full of magazines and ammo…

Being in the gun accessory business, I’ve heard from a lot of customers about this, and each and every one has stated the election as the reason they’re buying more. Not one has mentioned the economy or any possible rise in crime– just the possibility of more gun laws.

I once got some shrapnel or feedback or something when I was shooting at the gun city usa range. Left a nice little trail of blood on my right cheek. Very nice people, though.
I wonder if this increase in gun sales were also seen during the last presidential election?

That being the case, I predict a drop in sales if McCain wins, and a continued rise in sales if BO wins. The Clinton years saw very strong sales. We saw this first-hand after the 2000 election– Bush won, and sales dropped as people felt they could relax. After 9/11 sales went up again, sharply. Maybe that’s why Cooper’s supporting BO.
