IDPA

I downloaded the Gun Nuts Radio show about IDPA yesterday and listened to it on the way home. You can get it here. Worth a listen if you’re looking at practical shooting, I think. It clarifies a lot of the divisions and rules. I’m almost to the point where I no longer require my Certified Practical Shooting Accountant.

Also, Breda posted a handy list of links related to IDPA.

Machine guns and juveniles

Looks like letting a child handle a machine gun may be a crime in Massachusetts.

Quote of the day

Tam: I can hardly wait for the Messiah to be sworn in so unicorns will start farting rainbows on the front lawn of my gold house and I can run them over with my rocket car on the way to my governmentally-guaranteed middle class job.

Like Snopes for Snopes

Xrlq, that is. Seems to be a trend.

New Para

Tactical Wire, noting that Para USA will be moving to Charlotte so they can be in the USA, mentions a new pistol:

One of the first pistols to be assembled in Para’s Charlotte location will be the new “GI Expert” 1911 pistol. The Para “GI Expert” is an entry level 1911 pistol that will allow new marksmen to own a pistol that will give them what they need to become an Expert shot with the big bore .45.

Another Ruger Recall

Via NUGUN, it looks like the Ruger LCP has been recalled:

Ruger has recently received a small number of reports from the field indicating that LCP pistols can discharge when dropped onto a hard surface with a round in the chamber.

As Bane notes, the Ruger LCP has probably the biggest launch of any pistol ever. So, if you have one, get it fixed.

I still dig my Kel-Tec.

Cooper Firearms

Zumboed in half the time:

The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper.

Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms.

The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc.

David Hardy notes his contributions were perhaps illegal, which is not surprising based on the Obama Camp’s donation system.

Update: David has posted a follow up and notes his contributions were not illegal.

Douchebag

The maker of The Back Up (a bedside shotgun rack) issued a presser stating that maybe one of these would have saved Jennifer Hudson’s family from tragic death.

I’m as pro-gun as they get but that is pretty tasteless.

Bryan Miller: Keeping it classy

The reason that 8 year-old was firing the machine gun was because guns are a stand-in for erections.

What about my wife’s gun?

Failure to Commit

On I-240 just South of downtown Memphis, there’s a Fantastic Sam’s billboard with a picture of a moderately attractive 30-something woman, with the text “From Soccer Mom to Soccer Hottie.”

That strikes me as a missed opportunity, or a lack of balls. The obvious payoff should be “From Soccer Mom to Soccer MILF.”

That is all.

Bastards

There were four high school cheerleaders killed in an auto accident. Fred Phelps and his merry band of drooling lunatics plan on protesting the funerals.

Zombies

If you’re in Chicago, you have less than one week to prepare for the semi-annual biennial event in which the dead walk the earth to vote. Be prepared.

Little late there, folks

So, after the constant fellating of Obama by the press, a few outlets decide to shame the media. With a week to go. First up:

The sheer bias in the print and television coverage of this election campaign is not just bewildering, but appalling. And over the last few months I’ve found myself slowly moving from shaking my head at the obvious one-sided reporting, to actually shouting at the screen of my television and my laptop computer.

And from the same bit:

Middle America, even when they didn’t agree with Joe, looked on in horror as the press took apart the private life of an average person who had the temerity to ask a tough question of a presidential candidate. So much for the standing up for the little man. So much for speaking truth to power.

And: Why McCain is getting hosed in the press:

The Project for Excellence in Journalism’s researchers found that John McCain, over the six weeks since the Republican convention, got four times as many negative stories as positive ones. The study found six out of 10 McCain stories were negative.

What’s more, Obama had more than twice as many positive stories (36 percent) as McCain — and just half the percentage of negative (29 percent).

You call that balanced?

Well, they have an election to win.

Field Guide To Modern Conservatives

I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there.

Bigotry

Delaware State Police stopped a person from buying a gun because she was old and a woman. Funny because the Executive Director of the American Hunters and Shooters Association, Bob Ricker, has said that every young female who purchases guns legally should raise a red flag as being a criminal subject to federal prosecution and 10 years in prison. No young women. No older women. It’s like anti-gunners have trouble with women or something. That line of thinking got the ATF in trouble a few years ago.

Up next, no blacks or gays. Oddly, the local press calls this a glitch.

Also, funny story, it turns out the state police also had been keeping lists of gun buyers for years; state law requires them to destroy these records after 60 days. Oops.

Happy Birthday

Yesterday was Brittney’s birthday.

Today is mine. I’m 37.

Taxing Birdwatching

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is looking into it:

But wildlife watching in Tennessee – which doesn’t require a license – is on the rise. TWRA is pitching an idea to tax non-hunters through small fees for trailer license plates, new fees to visit managed lands or by taxing products like bird seed.

ACORN and Guns

ACORN not just stealing elections anymore:

NSSF mentioned last night that ACORN is asking to get involved in an appeal of a Jersey City case that twice previously threw out one-gun-a-month laws. But their brief doesn’t answer questions gun owners want to know like why the hell ACORN wants to get involved.

It turns out that ACORN has actually been involved with the case since that last appeal when they joined as intervenors for Jersey City in an effort to uphold the law to limit lawful sales.

And remember, Barack Obama has never, ever even heard of ACORN.

And you could make an A-List Movie using the folks in NYC who have permits to carry handguns. Like you and me, only better.

Cooper Firearms

It was reported they supported Obama.

Fearing Zumbofication, the story has since changed to Oops, my bad. I only did once and have changed my mind.

Update: Not convinced.

Joe seems to think he just wants to be eaten last.

Quote of the day

Heh:

If the average “White Power” neo-Nazi type making the news is truly the best the white race has to offer, then we Caucasians are in some pretty deep shit.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
