No permit to carry
In SC, a bill has been drafted to allow residents to carry concealed weapons without a permit. Like Alaska and Vermont.

Now that is what I call a “common sense gun law.”

Interesting. It won’t pass, but it shows that there are some legislators in SC who are tired of being behind the curve on right-to-carry issues.

not conealed carry, open carry. SC is one of the very few states where Open Carry is… somewhat… illegal. This is the same push for open carry that Texas is going through right now.

They don’t name the bill, as news accounts almost never do, so you can’t tell from the article whether the bill would actually end concealed carry permits entirely (Vermont) or simply make them optional (Alaska). I prefer the Alaska model. No license vs. optional license may be a distinction without a difference at home, but it can make a huge difference if you travel out of state, where almost every state requires a permit, and a few specifically require a permit from your home state.
