Whoops
UK police accidentally mail a machine gun to grandmother. It’s OK, though. From the pic, it looks like it had a safety lock.

And there in lies the issue with people who don’t handle guns. She was concerned if she touched it, the weapon could discharge.
Where are the grown ups in the world today? Damn kids anyway.

Good grief.
Oh, and,
why can’t this happen to me?

Actually, it’s not even a gun… but it has that SCARY appearance of being one. Which, of course is enough in a country that wants to ban knives.

Makes me think of those US Postal Service PSAs back in the 1980s informing customers that if they receive something in the mail by mistake, they have a right to keep it (they had humorous fictional scenes of Eskimos in their igloos receiving desk fans saying “thanks!”, etc.).
Also, I’m thinking that the laser gear the US military uses for training purposes is just an attachment that sticks on the end of a service rifle, but I’ve never handled an M-16A2 that had one, so I don’t know for sure; but instead of using such detachable gear, the UK goes and tears up a perfectly fine H&K to install its laser training stuff–seems like an inefficient use of her majesty’s subjects’ tax monies.

Yes, the Army’s MILES gear attaches directly to the rifle’s barrel and works as a laser-tag attachment… however, it offbalances the weapon and rarely works right. Some training units and ranges have indoor laser tag setups that use the same type of equipment that UK device does… basically, it’s laser tag, but with an air piston inside that simulates recoil. I know Holloman AFB had a range like that with M-4s.
