There’s a renewed call by some Dallas city council members to get guns off the streets — even if it means buying them back.
Buying them back would imply you bought them in the first place.

This is very exciting. I have a Jap carbine sporter that I bought for 95 bucks that bulges cases. It can’t be restored. If they will give me 200 bucks for it without the bolt, sling swivel and trigger I’m ready to dump it!

this is where you get reid of guns that were passed down and just dont work. Never knew what they do with the operating guns?

Hey, I have a junk .25 I’d let them buy back for $100. Of course I gave only $70 for it and I saw a real cool Makarov I’d like to put $100 down on. Sure they can take my .25 off the street!

…or it could mean that they think that YOUR guns belong to THEM. I guess in their eyes all of our rights are on loan.

I agree that “gun buy-back” is a misnomer. But the way I see it, some of the guns collected are in working order and some of the participants are part-time criminals who would then be without a gun. I don’t understand why you are all so against the program. At worst it’s largely ineffectual; at best it gets some guns away from the bad guys. How does it harm you, you being law abiding gun owners?

If they’re stolen, they never go back to their owners.
They might be encouraging anti-gun people or people who want to make a fast buck to steal lawfully owned firearms from their family members and then turn them in no-questions-asked for a reward.
They frequently spend tax dollars on an ineffective non-solution to the crime problem while inflating a dubious crime statistic called “getting guns off the street”.
