Ruger 10/22 Mag Maintenance
Handy info here.
Thirty minute wait to get in. Packed.
Update: $300 for an SKS
WASR for $700
Not an AR for under a grand.
Wow.
Never rob a house using a gun the homeowner will simply take it away from you and use it against you
In Belgium, a mass stabbing. This one at a daycare. And one reported earlier at VT.
And the KCSO is figuring that out: Knox County sheriff’s pension fund in trouble already.
Hillary Clinton’s replacement, Kristen Gillibrand, is reportedly pro-gun:
A big gun supporter, she’s been given a 100% approval rating by the NRA — she’s one of the extremely few Democrats on a federal level to win official NRA endorsement — and, this fall, she voted in favor of a controversial bill to repeal District of Columbia laws prohibiting the possession of semiautomatics.
From her website:
I, like many natives of Upstate New York, grew up in a hunting family and own a gun. I learned at an early age how to safely handle a gun and I believe that every law-abiding citizen should always have the right to own arms.
The Second Amendment of the Constitution prohibits the federal government from denying law-abiding citizens the right to keep and bear arms. And I intend to uphold this right through my votes and actions in Congress.
More Democrats like this, please.
Update: And she’s pissing off the right people:
“I’ve spent 15 years trying to prevent gun violence in this country, and if he does pick her and if no one goes and primaries her, I will primary her,” McCarthy said. “I will do that. I’m not going to give up on this. I’m not going to let New York State get represented by someone who gets a 100 percent rating from the NRA.”
With bonus STFU from Chuck Schumer (D-Own Gravitational Field).
I doubt the one with the gun is accurate since we know he doesn’t think people should own them.
Bloggers increase number of NRA memberships. I’m sure there’s more. After all, not everyone reported that a blog inspired them to join. I know there were people who mentioned joining in comments here and I inspired at least two other bloggers to join. Hard to keep an accurate tally since we have a lot of lurkers that read the gun blogs.
David notes that Mayors Against Guns hasn’t updated their list of members to reflect certain changes.
Ya know, I’m one who is on record as stating that abortion should stay legal. But this ad is one of the more powerful ads I’ve ever seen.
Another murder at VT.
And their mass notification system worked. 45 minutes after the incident.
Coburn to oppose Holder nomination because Holder is hostile to second amendment rights.
I guess someone didn’t want to take a test: Authorities today found no guns at three Hamilton County schools that were searched by explosives detection canines as part of a gun-free school zone campaign.
A handy demonstration:
So, they fart rainbows, pee free healthcare, and poop marshmallows.
Man, if only they were made of bacon.
It should be clear that I am no fan of Obama. But I’m with Radley and, generally, approve this list of things he’s done in the first bit. Except the suspending Gitmo trials thing. After all, the issue with Gitmo is that they’re being held there without a, you know, trial.
Confederate Yankee: Despite numerous public claims in the past that he would leave gun owners alone, reinstating the Assault Weapons Ban and enacting other restrictions are very much on Barack Obama’s “Urban Policy” agenda. And offers some fact-checking.
Well, we knew that already. And it was not unexpected. Insty offers an observation:
Since “urban” is often used as a code-word for “black and hispanic,” is lumping gun control under “urban policy,” perhaps, you know, racist? Given the historic use of gun control to disarm minorities, that seems a fair question.
And it often means “poor” too.
Looking for either a fixed 4x or 3-9 scope appropriate for my Ruger 10/22 (and isn’t that a sexy 10/22?). Something inexpensive but decent enough quality for a 22LR. Suggestions?
Looks like there will not be another Senator Kennedy. Caroline Kennedy has withdrawn, you know, her, uhm, name, you know, from, uhm, consideration, ya know. Citing, like, personal reasons or whatever, ya know.
Personal reasons probably consist of a lack of public speaking classes in her area.
The anti-gunners and the press (but I repeat myself) would have you believe that this increase in gun sales is because gun nuts who already own guns are stocking up on more guns. I have to confess that I actually have not bought a gun since the election but that’s anecdotal. Turns out there’s quite a few new gun owners in the mix.
Chris points out something we gun nuts often forget: If you ask most people in this country whether we have gun control, they’ll say no we don’t. If you ask them why, they’ll say something like “because the NRA keeps it from passing.
It is a perception issue. Despite there being several tens of thousands of gun laws on the books, people think otherwise. That’s, generally I think, due to poor press coverage of the gun issue. Chris also offers an exchange he’s had in which he tries to educate people on the gun laws.
Continuing this trend, Rusty has advice on How to Talk to People About the Upcoming “Assault Weapons” Ban.
I prefer illustrating the point with pictures. And if words are your thing instead of pictures, here’s an op-ed I wrote for a Maryland paper on the issue of assault weapons.
Update: and how can I forget this quiz by Greg that would quickly dispel the notion that we have few gun laws to those less knowledgeable.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
