Can’t blame them
Utah is looking at making their carry permits harder for out of staters to get. I’m not sure that’s throwing folks under the bus so much as other states are threatening to end reciprocity with Utah over their rather lax requirements.

Which states? Where’s the documented communication?
It’s not Utah’s lax standards, it’s the lack of enforcement and the corner cutters slitting everyone’s throat. Utah’s criteria are quite reasonable. I think making instructors come to Utah will limit the opportunist instructors.
A few bad apples as they say.

I keep hearing that, but which states are threatening? How credible are the threats? Many other states have a similar training requirement to Utah, and would potentially have the same problem. I’m telling you, if they succeed in doing this to Utah, they will do it to other states too.

Utah shouldn’t be capitulating to a mere threat. They should deal with the problem internally. (to the extent that a problem actually exists)
I agree with Sebastian. doing this is just going to embolden anti-gunners to take the same approach towards other states.

I do blame them. It’s pure defeatism. Why, just because one state oppresses people, should some other state oppress people? Have we all adopted the Leftspeak definition of “fairness”?

Why yes we have,Lyle! Along with adopting their definitions of assault weapon, reasonable, compromise, and pragmatism.
Thought you knew that.

Lax requirements? What would that make Washington State? You have to prove you can breathe and are not a felon or nutcase.
