Kaboom
Ya know, if lugging a weapon through the woods, I advise putting a piece of tape over the barrel. It’s cheaper than re-barreling:
Note how he immediately ditches the gun and tries to get the next guy on target. That’s dedication. I’d still be freaking out over my rifle.

That looks more like a bullet stuck half way down the barrel than something stuck in the end; ever see that myth busters episode.

Wow. Since I started hunting I’ve wondered a lot about that. I’ve always run a bore snake through my barrel and inspected it for obstructions at the end of each day, but I think the tape will go on 🙂

That’s one reason I advocate flash suppressors. I call them muzzle protectors with the secondary benefit of suppressing flash. Then again, it’s even better to develop good muzzle awareness. I can’t think of one excuse at the moment, for sticking your muzzle in the dirt and not being aware of the fact that you stuck your muzzle in the dirt. On the other hand, guns do sometimes blow up anyway. Without more information we can say it’s possible that the guy did everything right and got unlucky.

Huh, that was exactly my thought, RipRip – Adam and Jamie already demonstrated that this could never happen! 😉
Sucks about the hardware, though – that probably was not cheap.

I(t doesn’t take much barrel obstruction to banana peel a barrel.
A barrel full of rainwater can do it.
