David Hume loved billiards. One day the wags at the Club secretly bored through the slate and baize and bolted down an ‘objective’ ball. When the cue-ball hit it, it did not move. Hume went into a stupor and wasn’t heard from for weeks.
It changed the world. Really, it did.
