Any attorneys or law historians on board? It would be interesting to know if these non-disclosure agreements were ever considered to be counter to the public interest. So many news articles consist of non-comments–and so many award-winning investigations are no more than violations of them. We really do not know what happened at Red’s. They had to sign off on that.

Laywers are typically patient, capable of making a person fight until they are tired (or run out of money). Government lawyers, more so.
Even when in the wrong (or making mountains out of molehills), they can keep the process churning for some time.
And now there’s a gun shop in Idaho which will be super-careful in filling out forms.
And a hundred other FFL holders which will hit up Red for ideas on how to fill out forms correctly.
And a thousand other FFL holders who will be extra-careful in filling out forms.
