Safe sports

Hunting is safer than bowling. And apparently every other sport too.

Well, I guess if you’re hunting in Africa it could be dangerous. Deer in Washington State, not so much. We don’t have many animals that consider you food, and besides; most deer are taken close to home (got one this fall within 350 yards of my front door). You don’t risk an encounter a kitty cat, a bear or the wolves unless you get a little farther out. I’ll refrain from making jokes about the former vice president.

I suppose since a hunter is by definition armed, hunting is safer than backpacking or just hiking unarmed. Same basic activity, with or without a defensive arm. I’ve done it both ways, and I haven’t died yet. Not even once.

I suppose it depends on what you’re hunting. Hunting tigers wouldn’t be particularly safe….
