How about for politicians?
Bob:
Drug tests for welfare recipients. What a great idea. And I know that being a fair and non-vindictive sort, West Virginia lawmaker Craig Blair will also start demanding drug testing for everyone who receives government handouts — from tax breaks to bailouts to states that take more from the federal tax system than they contribute to it.
I would actually support Bob’s idea because the side effect would be less government spending.

How is a tax break a .gov handout? That’s like saying the mafia donates to charity because they don’t demand protection money from The Salvation Army

I am instituting mandatory drug screening on my employees.
I want to see 546 full specimen cups, right now.

^ Just don’t forget that’s not apple juice.

Bob’s almost got it right, as the others have mentioned.
The tests should be done on those being ‘paid’ by the .gov, not those who just aren’t being robbed (or are being robbed less).
I think The Powers That Be should be subject to as many of the laws they pass as possible. Might lead to a few less of them (laws or PTBs, I’m not picky).

Actually, I’d be all in favor of mandatory drug tests for all government officials, elected and appointed, and at all levels, all the way from local up to federal. As long as the results of every test were made public, so it could be on the internet, that is.

Of course drug testing! Another taxpayer cost. I would prefer mandatory birth control.

As Phil said, just another hand in the pocket needing cash to cover it.
I love the idea of testing each and every one of the bastards, but take it a step further and make THEM pay for it, not us.

Would be cheaper if we just outsourced our politicians to India and China for a fraction of the price.

I’m with Dan – at least then you could pick up a phone and call them, and we’d save a *bunch* of money.

And probably be better able to understand them, Dirt.
