Outrage!
It is absolutely outrageous that the US has 26M fewer guns than people. Some of you are obviously not doing your part.
In other news, I didn’t know Gonzo was still around.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

Hey, I have bought one gun per month since October of last year. Not because that is all the law allows, but because that is all the paycheck allows. So it ain’t me.

I found that article very informative. I learned:
* /me is contributing to the ‘problem’. Woo!
* Guns are durable goods, lasting up to “400 years”. A solid investment!
* It’s possible to directly compare the rates of homicides committed with firearms between two different countries that utilize different ways of counting homicides (seriously!), have dramatically differing access to the means in question, and are (again) quite distinct culturally. Somehow, all the variables are controlled!

“…there are enough guns to arm nearly every man, woman and child in our country making us the most heavily armed nation on earth.”
Were number 1!!! USA! USA! USA! Or, if I may use a DVDA song:
“America! Fuck Yeah!”

Their number is based on a telephone interview. People may under-report if they are nervous with the call, if their guns aren’t registered, or if they still own banned “assault weapons.”
I wouldn’t even answer that phone call.

So I just read that the number of households reporting having weapons has declined to about 34%. Could it be…that people have gotten smart enough to stop reporting that they have guns?

Americans own “more than a third of all the guns owned worldwide.” Damn! Makes you proud don’t it?
As for lasting 400 years … my oldest is only 132 years old. Off for cleaning supplies. Must make sure my investment in capital goods retains its value. I can use my GM stock to sop up any spilled cleaner.

Aren’t you the dude who only owns 7 guns?
Hell, I bought 7 guns last year. And I live in Massa-fuckin-chusetts!
🙂

My oldest rifle is only 90 years young – a WWI survivor – but I have several others past the half-century mark, so my guns median age is pretty well advanced.
This is a succinct summary of all the incoherent anti-gun proposals I have ever read, conveniently located in one place. I note no comments are allowed there. Refutation of their idiocy, paid for on their bandwidth, is apparently not desired.
Don’t these people know their lies, damn lies, and statistics have been refuted many times over in the public press?

Hey, I’m trying! Just bought another one this weekend!

We’re #1 in a lot of things, but this one makes me smile? Broadly!

Yeah, some of you guys need to catch up. I’ve got 54 firearms that aren’t antiques, at last count. I’m pulling my weight. (And it’s damn heavy.)
Buy some C&R stuff. Ammo is cheaper and can be a bunch of fun. Try Mosin-Nagant or SKS. Both make fun plinkers and are much less expensive on ammo than the AR-15. (I have to say the AR-15 is more fun, but I don’t like the cost.)

ka, I’m envious. Sure do wish I lived in one of those one-gun-a-month states!
March 30th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Well – he’s about fifty percent shy of the total number of guns in circulation in these United States. And the real reason the “number of gun owners” is not above 50% of the adult population is the fear winding up on a gun confiscation list. Many of us will not admit the fact if we are asked.

Last week was my first 40 hr. week in 4 months(was 32).So I called my FFL dealer today and asked him if would start looking for a 9mm carbine. Something I can decorate. I know what do with my extra money and I am also trying to pull my fair share.
