Still more on 20/20

The National Shooting Sports Foundation‘s Ted Novin emails:

STAYING OUT OF THE CROSS HAIRS . . . ABC’s 20/20 ran a hit piece on firearms and firearms’ owners on Friday evening. NSSF was asked numerous times by 20/20 Senior Producer Muriel Pearson to participate in the story, but understanding the piece was a set-up we refused. “After pointing out to Ms. Pearson that our refusal to participate in the program did not absolve her team of their responsibility to ask hard-hitting questions of those supporting gun control, we supplied 20/20 with information on the more than 20,000 gun laws on the books and data from the Department of Justice and Bureau of Justice Statistics related to firearms,” said NSSF Director of Public Affairs Ted Novin. “Unfortunately, given 20/20’s refusal to disclose any of the information we provided — information that interfered with their already pre-established and desired anti-gun conclusion — it has become all too clear that journalistic impartiality on firearms issues at 20/20 is limited to John Stossel.”

What media bias against guns?

    Hell yeah!

Keep the heat on…..ABC should be called on this multiple times over for perpetuating a lie. The best thing to do is create an uproar over their slanted coverage, and make an example out of them.

Diane Sawyer needs to go to a gun show, a range, an overnight in the mountains… She’ll LOVE guns… 🙂

They stooped to a new low. I saw it. They had cute, bright kids explaining the wonderful hopes and dreams they had for the future, indicating that their realization of these dreams was rendered unlikely by the horrible, inexcusable and easy availability of guns in America. The kids appealed directly to Obama, asking him to do something about it.

They gave a young man a few hundred bucks and told him to see how many guns he could get at a gun show. He came out with “more guns than he could carry” and it was all so shockingly easy due to the “gun show loophole”. I figured Michael Moore could had written the script, but it was even more of a puker than that.

I think there’s another one playing tonight. They’re gearing up for some new attack, and this is the opening artillery barrage.

We can only hope that it will backfire on them as more people are exposed to the outrageous depths of media depravity. Where’s Dan Rather when we need him?

    Lyle:

You might be referring to the 60 Minutes piece, which aired last night (Sunday, Apr 12). Phil Van Cleave (who got significantly more than one uncredited line that time around) had a lot of positive things to say about it, ESPECIALLY in relation to the 20/20… thing.

Omar Samaha (the gun show serial-buyer, who lost his sister in the VT massacre) was also shown to change his story in places. Quoth PVC:

“On 60 Minutes and in front of the General Assembly, he says he bought a dozen guns in a hour. On 20/20 it was 10. On 20/20, Samaha said he was told by one private seller that for another $100, Samaha wouldn’t have to show any ID. On 60 Minutes, that amount was now reduced to $15.”

The 60 Minutes piece can supposedly be found at http://tinyurl.com/c8zmw9 (Looks like the full thing but I don’t know for sure. Dialup modem.)
