Obama on weapons that look like assault weapons
After pledging support for international gun control, Obama was asked about the ban on politically incorrect self-loading rifles. The press says that Obama won’t seek a ban on the most popular rifles in the country. But did he really say that? No, he did not:
Now, having said that, I think none of us are under any illusion that reinstating that ban would be easy.
He wants the ban but realizes it would cost the Democrats. And, of course, a lot of the Democrats will not sign on anyway. Obama rambled on about tracing. I’m not sure what he was trying to get at there but it seems to be a reference to the Tiahrt amendment. And, of course, he misrepresents what it does.

Nancy Pelosi said no to another AWB, and Obama won’t cross here, because she’s the boss and he’s her little dog. They’d rather push Socialized Medicine which they will be able to use to deny gun owners care when it becomes a dominant force in medical care. “You have a gun in your home? Sorry, we can’t treat you for cancer until you get rid of it.” Then it’s voluntary, see?

“Won’t be easy” strangely translates into “absolutely necessary for the safety of children, absolutely demanded by the populace” the moment there is a one vote majority for the anti-gun legislation, no matter what the legislation is.
After all this buildup before and after the election, after all this publicity using both old (assault weapons BAD!) and new (Mexico, EEEEK!) anti-gun canards, after all the crocodile tears about having zero intent to antagonize gun owners, all the while professing an absolute devotion to the anti-gun agenda, has anyone any doubt that anti-gun legislation will be passed the moment it is politically feasible.
The lesson of 1994 elections apparently have been lost to the mists of time. We have a president, with an appalling anti-2nd Amendment record, caught on tape before the election expressing his true, very negative opinion about gun owners, elected anyway through a multiplicity of lies and astroturfing and denial of his own record and his own words, will do all he can to demonize gun ownership, denigrate the right to self defense, and pass anti-gun legislation.
That they even admit it is not possible until, say, next week or maybe next month, is not a victory for the pro-civil rights side of the argument.

WTF, dude!? I’m against a new AWB too but I don’t know where you pulled out this slippery slope train-wreck of sloppy thinking from…

I keep asking? IF President Obama supports “the equal protection of the laws” in the 14th Amendment (which with the 13th ended slavery) wouldn’t he be willing to abide by the same gun control laws he seeks to impose on us? After all he’s our public servant…isn’t he?
Now that would be some real “change”!

Sort of defines the progressive movement, doesn’t it?

Just stand by for more contrived situations that will ‘change’ opinion. They will stop at nothing – just like the economy, BHo’s ‘October suprise’!!!!

“He wants the ban but realizes it would cost the Democrats.”
It would cost him too, if he wants to run in 2012.
