Speaking of Canada
I find it a bit ironic that they can import M4 clones into Canada. And in the US with our supposedly lax gun laws, we can’t import rifles with 14.5 barrels or if they’re semi-automatic (generally).

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

Do they have to talk about their sex life to buy one?

In Canada, if you have a gun owner’s license, you can get rifles like this shipped straight to your door. No federally mandated middle man to deal with, just the importer.

Yeah, see, there’s the sticking point.
I’d rather be able to buy a 16″ rifle unpapered in a parking lot than have a 14.5″ one right where the .gov has the combination to the safe, thanks.

OK, but if I buy one in Canada (as a Canadian citizen with that license) can I bring it into the US?

There’s a lot of irony and inconsistency in so-called “gun control” laws because they’re arbitrary. The art of abusing people is an inexact art. Abuse them this way or that way; abuse them more or less; it all depends on how one feels at the moment. Expressing animosity towards private gun owners or any other group is a very subjective practice limited only by the abusers’ creativity. At least they’re not making us wear yellow stars on our clothing, yet.
