The normal 2nd Amendment quibble applies to this poll: this amendment, like all the first 10 amendments, does not give rights, it guarantees pre-existing and inherent rights of individuals against the government. But that would be expecting schoolkids to actually, you know, have been taught civics in school instead of social studies.
96% is a razor-thin majority, meaning nothing. No doubt it’s the result of the NRA’s well-funded propaganda machine.
Sorry. I’m launching into Leftspeak more often these days.
But yeah; I’d have to vote “No”. The Bill of Rights doesn’t “give” anyone any rights. It is a promise that those rights with which we are born will be protected. Anyone who understands English and the nation’s founding would have to vote “No”.
The problem is therefore one of education, as stated in a previous post.
PLEASE people, stop spreading this around. It’s a USA Today poll from November of ***2007***. You can click the link till you’re finger turns blue, but the results will never get published. Not only that, they aren’t even accurate any more. The numbers have fluctuated wildly (to include total votes) over the last 17 months since it is now an invalid poll. The system doesn’t even bother with keeping it current.
When they post these things, you’ve usually only got ONE DAY to vote. After that, it meaningless other than to make oneself feel good about the numbers, which are worthless numbers.

Apparently, 3% haven’t heard of Heller and 1% are confused by it. I can live with that.
