What media bias?
Buckeye firearms reports on ABC’s recent hit piece on guns:
The “Jan” listed as a gun-owning father in this story is Jan Nickels – an old friend from grade/high school, who still currently lives only about 5 miles from me. He is an ex-Marine and is well-schooled in firearms and firearm safety. We are fellow members of the same local shooting club.
I called Jan as soon as I read the story. As it turns out, ABC News tricked Jan and others to participate in what was obviously always been intended to be an anti-gun attack. In fact, this story starts with a false premise and goes quickly downhill. At this point I will let Jan tell the rest of his story:
I periodically get requests to talk to the press about guns. And this is why I typically don’t. And I’ve mentioned before why I do not.

As a bare minimum, I’d seriously research the outfit you plan to talk to…Deceit is a favored tactic, and there’s a few ‘false-flaggers’ out there.(AHSA, anyone?)
Generally speaking, though, the Media are NOT friends of gun owners, and it’s worse than talking to police after you’ve been arrested: know that ANYTHING you say will be used ONLY to HURT your cause, and clam up.
There’s an awfully powerful temptation to get your name on the TV, or in the papers, and try to “set things straight”…DON’T DO IT! Time and again we see that these people have their own agenda, complete with preconceived notions, and all the reason and logic will never sway them. They aren’t LOOKING for reason: all your main points will end up on the cutting room floor—remember that. They are looking for mistakes, loopholes, out-of context stuff, and anything that will help them and hurt you. Why fight a fool’s battle?
Teach your children, too, because these character assassins are not above using their enthusiasm and lack of experience against you, as we saw in the interview. You need more than arms to defend your family these days. It looks like Jan Nickels is doing a fine job !
