Ninjas beat pirates
An Italian cruise ship with 1,500 people on board fended off a pirate attack far off the coast of Somalia when its Israeli private security forces exchanged fire with the bandits and drove them away, the commander said Sunday.

Two things here….
Why was’nt the CREW armed, and…
Who in their right mind would go on a cruise to SOMALIA?

According to the article, they were 500 miles off the coast of Somalia. So, they weren’t exactly cruising there.

I still say a couple of longships full of Vikings will cure this. The math is simple:
Vikings>Ninjas>Pirates

“…private security forces exchanged fire with the bandits and drove them away…”
That’s nice, but “private security forces exchanged fire with the bandits and sent them to the bottom” would be better.
500 miles out, and 200 from the Seychelles? So where’s the mother ship?
“The commander said his security forces opened fire with pistols”
Eee Gads! These guys need some real weapons. M-14s or even M-16s would have done the trick. Scoped Barrett auto-loading fifties for a final send-off would be a nice touch, even if they’d hurt a few passenger’s ears (Hmmm, do they make soft-points for those?). Pirates? What pirates? We didn’t see no stinking pirates. Did any of you passengers see any pirates? No, they didn’t see any pirates either.

But… Vikings are pirates! It’s what the word means!
