Texas to follow Montana?
A bill in Texas would exempt weapons made there from federal gun laws:
A bill by state Rep. Leo Berman exempting Texas-made firearms, gun accessories and ammunition sold within the state from federal regulation and law — including registration — was heard in a House committee on Monday.
The bill also provides for the Texas Attorney General’s office to defend Texans who run afoul of the federal government because of this law.
Montana has passed a similar bill already. Other states, including Alaska, Tennessee and Wyoming, have similar measures in the works.

Can Texas pay to move Ronnie Barrett’s manufacturing facility from Tennessee after this passes? Or at least convince him to set up a branch facility here?

The bill in the Texas House is H.B. 1863. I’m emailing Rep. Berman as well as my own State Rep. with my support for this.
Rep. Berman is from Tyler, TX, which was home to a small rifle ‘factory’ during the Great Unpleasantness of 1861-1865. Info on the Tyler Ordnance works is here:

It won’t get really interesting until a manufacturer decides to stop paying the federal taxes…

Leo is my Rep and I appreciate his attention to the problem of Federal intrusions into the 10th amendment. It’s long since past addressing. This may just be lip service but it’s nice to at least have folks pander a little bit.

I got a brief but nice email back from Leo a few minutes after I sent mine to him.
Nothing yet from my own rep. Robert, y’think I should call Kevin Eltife and have him walk over and have a chat with him? 😀
Regards,
Rabbit.
