This doesn’t supprise me.
In the late 70’s to mid 80’s Oxfordshire in the UK loaded up on both Speed and red light cameras as fast as they could because they increased revenue.
Another case of well intentions overcome by greed.

In Austin, apparently, it was the goal. And it worked.
I dislike red light cameras as much as the next guy, but . . .
rear-end collisions went up a little, and T-bone collisions went WAY down. And the fines are less than a speeding ticket in the city.
Apparently, this is exceptional.
