US Government To Kill People
Reason is reporting that the FDA has plans to ban electronic cigarettes. They deliver nicotine without smoke, combustion products, or the other stuff that causes cancer. Because:
Our concern is that this might introduce nonusers to nicotine use
Nicotine is, generally, not a major health concern. That’s why it’s mostly OK to use nicotine gum and patches and such. It’s usually the processing or, you know, the smoke that causes the health issues. These devices deliver nicotine and a smoking type experience but with far, far less risk. I don’t smoke cigarettes anymore but if I did, I’d imagine this might have satisfied my cravings without killing me. I have not ever actually tried an electronic cigarette. Though I still enjoy the occasional cigar.
Stupid.

Sounds like it’s a “loss of tax revenue” move to me.

Killing people is what governments are for.

I whole heartedly agree with commenters 1&2 above. The FDA is going to ban these because it will be an effective tool to help people STOP smoking, and will therefore result in a loss of tax revenue. The government isn’t concerned with saving lives, but with increasing it’s own coffers. In the words of Dr. Gary Mauser: “Government has the morality of cancer. Growth is it’s only goal.” How else do you explain the War on (Some) Drugs?

The e-cigs are awesome. Anytime, anywhere. I can smell and taste again. You can get more nictoine than you are used to, though. China, where it seems everybody smokes, had a 13% drop in smoking since the e-cigs came out. I am certain e-cigs will be banned because of the tax revenue loss. Boldfaced, shameless, hypocrites running our government. I am preaching to the choir here, but we need to stop electing these greedy, corrupt lawyers.

The FDA has been trying to ban the sale of Red Yeast Rice Extract, which contains a naturally occurring form of Lovastatin – a cholesterol lowering drug. Because it’s a natural supplement, the FDA can’t do shit to stop the sale of RYRE. It’s a fraction of the cost of pharma-made Lovastatin and big gov’t and big pharma ain’t getting a slice of that pie. I spent about $30 and got myself over 3 year’s worth of RYRE. Imagine if I’d gotten the pharma-made shit, how much I’d be paying for 3 year’s worth?? I’ve been on RYRE for 9 months now and my cholesterol has gone way down; blood flow has improved; blood pressure has normalized and I’ve lost the puffiness in my face that’s associated with high blood pressure.
My friend just found out of these e-cigs and he’s been trying everything under the sun to quit smoking real cigarettes and now the government wants to take that away from him too?
Government’s getting too effin’ intrusive into people’s lives and it’s gotta stop. Either that or it’s going to come to a head; people won’t stand for it anymore, and all the bums in D.C. will get tossed out on their asses, and hopefully out of this country on a slow boat to effin’ Siberia.

Congrats on staying quit, Unc. I’m on my 9th year.

Nobody likes a quitter 😉

it’ll be just a matter of time before the FDA bans fenugreek (contains diogenin, a fantastic 5-LOX antinflammatory, and several brutally effective phytoestrogens) and apples (quercetin, med-grade antioxidant 440mg/kg), epsom salts (better calcium channel blocker than some FDA approved medications), mercurochrome (excellent topical antiseptic)…
oh, wait…

Isn’t “epsom salts” just Magnesium Chloride or Sodium Sulfate or something? I seem to remember it being a very common drying agent.

I thought the only reason that one would consume Epsom Salt was to reduce constapation, I.E. to make you shit your brains out. I do know it’s good for gardening.
