Sounds like a legislative solution is in order, like in Missouri…

The inner thoughts of a Judicial Activist:
“Oh no. There reasoning is based on sound principals and constitutional law. They have case history, precedent, and common sense on their side. What should I do? I know! I’ll throw the case out! Whew! Dodged that bullet, heh, heh.”

Actually, the lawsuit stated that the Regents were overstepping their authority, and could not set policy in this matter. The judge simply affirmed that they could.
That said, Colorado is fast becoming California-in-the-Rockies.

This case was also prompted by a 2003 law that said the state could NOT ban people with CCW permits from carrying on government property without installing metal detectors, constantly manning the post and checking every person. The idea being that only craziest of state/local government buildings would spend that kind of money without good reason. Other Universities in Colorado have already acceeded, unfortunately UCCS is trying to outlawyer the kids that brought suit and unfortunately there are some Kalifornicated judges in Colorado. Hard to say how it will turn out on appeal since the law is clear but clearly we have judges here that don’t much care for or about the law.
